Kalacoma are a 5-piece experimental/trip-rock band hailing from the depths of the Melbourne underground, writing music which draws on their love of vintage tone and the avant-garde.
Focusing on vocal melodies, intricate rhythms and with an air of timelessness, Kalacoma move from intensity to intimacy, fusing electronic and acoustic elements seamlessly in their live performance. Kalacoma engineer and mix all their own recordings in order to create a truly unique production style that plays as much a role in determining the sound as the instruments themselves.
On top of this heavy production schedule, Kalacoma have self produced and directed their debut film clip for their landmark release "Waves", taken from their [EP] Spiral Eyes.
Having quickly gained momentum in 2013 off the back of their recent debut tour launching their single/video for the track "Waves", the band has managed to capture the imagination of the alternative music scene with genuinely innovative and emotive music with responses to their sound sparking intrigue and excitement.
“Kalacoma are a musical behemoth waiting to rise into the broader consciousness of alternative music" - Beat Magazine
“Something that truly commands attention. This band instantly joined my 'must see live' list on first listen! – 4ZZZ 102.1FM
“Textured, diverse and intrinsically interesting, Kalacoma are truly one of Melbourne's most promising acts” – Inpress Magazine
“Certainly, Spiral Eyes is an absorbing debut EP that provides an inclusive taste of Kalacoma, and a sure sign the band are poised for bigger and better things.” – Jack Vear, Tone Deaf
Nick Herrera Vocals/Guitar/Producer, Alan Erpi Keys/Vocals/Samples/Percussion, Marin Sekesan Guitar/Effects, Benjamin Tansey Bass & Maria Moles Drums/Vocals.
